AASTRO,in collaboration with Kerala University Union and KSSTM organized a two day astronomy camp for students from various colleges affiliated to Kerala University.The camp was inaugurated by Prof.K.Pappootty,President,

AASTRO.Classes were handled by experts like Shri.Arun Jerald,Director,KSSTM and Shri.from VSSC.

Planetarium shows,skywatching,video presentations also were there.Hon.Minister for Education and Cultural affairs interacted with camp participants.Around 60 students participated in the camp They  will undertake astronomy outreach activities in various schools and other places.

On the occassion of International Year of Astronomy,AASTRO Kerala,in collaboration with Kerala University Union and Priyadarshini Planetarium is organizing a two astronomy orientation camp for UG and PG students from colleges affiliated to Kerala University on Novemeber 21,22 at Kerala state Science and Technology Museum,PMG Junction ,Thiruvananthapuram.The camp will be inaugurated by Prof.K.Pappootty,Director,





State Encyclopaedia Publications.Experts from related fields like Dr.Balagangadharan from ISRO,Dr.Arun Jerald Prakash from KSSTM will conduct different sessions.Sky observation sessions,video presentation and other activities are also will be there.

Travelling expenses,food and accomodation for the participants will be provided by the organisers..Registartion starts from 8.30 am on saturday,21st Nov.

Dr. Aravind Paranjpye delivered a lecture on the mesmerizing chromatic beauty of the universe. He discussed the aesthetic aspects of the various celestial entities, with thw strong support of scientific facts. It was an appreciable presentation in which students and teachers from various colleges in Trivandrum city participated. The program was conducted y AASTRO in collaboration with Dept. of Physics, University College, Trivandrum.

AASTRO organized a presentation on effective Astronomical observations without the aid of any of sophisticated instrument and facility. Dr. Paranjpye showed ,through slides, how can we use the observation of celestial phenomena like occultation, transits and eclipses for drawing valid conclusions. He   said, such amateur organizations such as AASTRO can embark on various activities in collaboration with IUCAA which would lead to productive results in Astronomy. He ensured that IUCAA facilitates significant amateur contributions in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Various eminent persons, students, teachers and like-minded people attended the presentation.
