Pale Blue Dot: a cosmic perspective | Monthly Lecture

AASTRO MONTHLY LECTURE

*"… It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience." - Carl Sagan*

We belong to the ‘Pale Blue Dot’ called earth. Against the vastness of space, our blue home is just a tiny dot. With millions of suns, icy planets, mammoth moons, and the unknown co-existing, every effort to understand the universe is a humbling experience. To this end, our astronomical explorations have made great strides in ‘unearthing’ the dark secrets that bind the universe together.

This month, let’s discuss our gigantic universe from this vantage point and understand how such discussions help us evolve as human beings—the tiny species from a blue little planet.
